On September 3rd to September 5th there is a Lake Tahoe/Bliss Camp at Bliss State Park in California. This camp is open to all Far West Nordic Jouniors from ages 12-19. If you want to join, you would have to sighn up by August 29, 2010. This is a medium-intensity camp with fun training activities and ski technique.

At Far West Nordic there is a fundraiser called Far West Bucks. Its a program designed for athletes who wish to sell raffle tickets for our annual fundraiser program. 75% of the money that they raise will go into their Far West accounts. The money in their accounts goes to any Far West sponsored trip or camp. this is a great way to earn money to go on trips if your family cannot afford it.

MOUNT LASSEN SUMER CAMP
From Wednesday, Auguast 11th to Sunday August 15th 2010 there will be a summer camp for Far West members. The cost of this camp is $380.If you want to attend this camp you will have to sighn up by August 1st. This camp is far all qualified jounior national athaletes. This acmp is a High Intensity, low elevation, and high volume camp. There willl be a lot of rollerskiing, swimming, distance trail running and hill bounding. But you have to be careful because there is also poision oak. This camp is lokated near Mount Lassen. This is in California. Mount Lassen is very beautiful. THe camp includes meals, transportation, coaching and camping. It is really a great camp.

Racing is a way to challenge yourself and brings the everybody together in a positive way. Racers race aginst people of there same age and skill level. Why do people ski? People ski because its a skill that has to be developed. No one is born knowing how to ski, it takes a lot of practice. people ski because they want a chalange. it provides a thrill for you when you master it. and when you race its the chaleng of winning and trying to be the best out there, and thats what makes it so fun.

There is a program called Far West Nordic Ski Education Assosiation. A lot of the kids who are on the Truckee High School team also train with this assosiation when the High School is done with their season. This program has something called June Lake Camp. It is at June Lake California. The camp starts on July 22, and goes all the way to July 25. The cost of this camp is $225. It is open to all Far West Nordic Juniors which include ages 13-19. To be able to go to this camp you have to sighn up by July 15,2010. This is a really fun camp with a lot of tehnique and distance training. All abilities and skill levels are welcome to particapate. This camp includes Ski walking, technique, rollarskating, hiking in the sierras, games, going to the beach, swimming (so make sure you bring a bathing suit!), running, eating s'mores around the campfire, strenght and core training, and manny more. This a great camp for kids and agreat mid-summer goal to look forward to learning from

Everybody on the Nordic ski team is very good. there also is many practices to make them even better.if you decide that you want to be on the team you have to try really hard and there is practices almost every day. Most races are on Friday tho which is good so you don't miss much school.The team mates do a fantastic job tho, and there is many of them. Here is a picture of this last years team.
